The third day of the United National Congress' (UNC) distribution of nomination papers got off to a slow start on May 13, with only 12 people showing up to collect papers.

Among them was Chutney legend and Hummingbird Medal (Silver) receipient Ramrajie Prabhoo.

Speaking with reporters at the UNC's headquarters at Rienzi Complex, Couva, Prabhoo said she was hoping to be selected to represent Caroni Central.

"Our Prime Minister has given us the opportunity to come in and serve and I have seized the opportunity to represent the country. I am hoping to represent the Caroni Central constituency," she said.

She also volunteered her perspective on what set her apart from incumbent MP Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh.

"In 1985, when I won the first Chutney competition, my children and I worked tirelessly to addressing the needs of the people in Todd's Road," she said. "As I see it, the difference between me and the incumbent, I am much more mature and experienced and you know experience is the greatest teacher."
